Hayes and Jessica Cowart

Rally for the Rescues-Hayes

Hayes

Meet Hayes; he is 4 YO TWH gelding. Hayes came into rescue at Safe Harbor Equine and Livestock Sanctuary in October 2015 as an unhandled Stud colt on a property with 18 horses. He had a very ROUGH intake. He broke with strangles and had to go through 60 days of treatment to be fully cleared and recovered. Early on in his rescue he had several choking incidents but dental floating solved his choke issues although he is still fed soaked pelleted feed. Hayes and 18 horses were brought to safety but there was said that more than 12 horses died on that farm.
Hayes was a body score 2, unhandled and terrified of people. He was socialized and halter trained and then adopted in May 2016. However, while in his adoptive home he had minimal handling and regressed some in his socialization but still healthy with routine vet and hoof care. Through no fault of his own, he was returned to rescue just last month. Hayes is halter trained and loads with minimal fuss. Rally for the Rescues-HayesHe will stand for the farrier with some anxiety but calm handling helps him with these routine tasks. He is a special small horse and is a very well put together TWH from Pusher lines.
In such a few years, Hayes has had a very ROUGH and inconsistent start. We are excited to give this young fella a chance to learn that people are good and his life can have consistency and kindness. We know Hayes with the help of his trainer will gain trust and confidence to show everyone the special traits of the TWH and be the special partner and mount he can be.

Jessica’s short-term goal is finding a way to get noticed and to build a clientele to help her reach her long-term goal.
Jessica CowartOutside of horse training, Jessica likes to go out with friends and dance to country music. She also enjoys quality family time with her twins.
