Hank Jr. and Breanna Holcomb
Meet Hank Jr. He is 1 YO TWH cross. Hank Jr. came into rescue at Volunteer Equine Advocates about 4 months ago after an emergency call on a Saturday morning. His mom and him ended up in someone’s backyard and by the time the person called it in and they could get someone out there, his mom was down and could not get back up. She literally starved to death. She was put down on site and poor, sweet, Hank Jr. was all of a sudden without his mom and taken to the rescue farm. He has no idea what grain was but had it figured out by the next morning and was demanding more. He is definitely a fighter!! Since his rescue he has gained weight and only needs about 50-100 pounds yet. He has learned to be haltered, led, tied, and pick up his feet. He is an absolute sweetheart with a little bit of spunk!
Breanna is 12 almost 13 years old and grew up around miniature ponies. When she was around 8 years old she started riding lessons with Hilda J. Keller and have been riding horses since. During this time she has learned how to read body language of the horse, keep her head up, heels down and sit up straight.
At the age of 9, Breanna bought her own horse, Trey, an 11 year old Arabian. They have learned together, and worked on goundwork, respect and trust. Her family fostered horses for Safe Harbor Equine and Livestock Sanctuary and Breanna helped train them.
In the future she would like to train horses and bring people and their horses together. She is thankful for this opportunity for this journey with Rally for the Rescues Trainer’s Challenge 2017.
